1. Early Access

Lyceum is a new product under active development. This means:

  • Features may change, be added, or be removed as we improve the product
  • You may occasionally encounter bugs or errors
  • We actively welcome your feedback to shape what we build next

We make reasonable efforts to maintain service reliability and protect your data. Founding members get early access to new features and direct input on product direction.

2. Accounts

To use Lyceum's learning features (vocabulary deck, progress tracking), you need an account. By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Keep your account credentials secure
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account
  • Be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)

We use Google OAuth for authentication. We do not store your Google password.

3. Subscriptions & Payments

Free tier: Basic access with a 50-card vocabulary limit.

Pro subscription: Unlimited vocabulary cards, contextual glosses, transliteration, and bulk import features.

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe
  • Your subscription renews automatically until cancelled
  • You can cancel anytime from your dashboard; access continues until the end of your billing period
  • Prices may change with 30 days notice; existing subscriptions honor their current rate until renewal

4. Refunds

We want you to be satisfied with Lyceum.

  • First 14 days: Full refund, no questions asked
  • After 14 days: Refunds considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Annual subscriptions: Pro-rated refunds available within the first 30 days

To request a refund, contact us at the email below.

5. Content & Intellectual Property

Greek texts and translations

The Ancient Greek texts and translations in Lyceum come from openly licensed sources:

  • Perseus Digital Library (CC BY-SA 3.0)
  • Diorisis Ancient Greek Corpus (CC BY-SA 3.0)
  • LSJ Dictionary (public domain / CC BY-SA)

These texts remain under their original licenses. We provide access to them as a service.

AI-generated content

Contextual glosses are generated using AI (Claude by Anthropic). While we strive for accuracy, these glosses are learning aids, not authoritative scholarship. Always consult primary sources and scholarly resources for academic work.

Your content

Your vocabulary notes, glosses, and study data belong to you. We claim no ownership over content you create.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Scrape or bulk-download content for redistribution
  • Use automated tools to overload or abuse the service
  • Circumvent subscription restrictions or payment systems
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose

Violation may result in account termination.

7. Your Data

See our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Summary:

  • We store your email, vocabulary, and learning progress
  • We do not sell your data
  • You can export or delete your data by contacting us
  • We make daily backups to prevent data loss

8. Limitation of Liability

Lyceum is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated glosses or morphological analyses

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages. In such cases, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as Lyceum evolves. For significant changes:

  • We will notify you by email at least 14 days before changes take effect
  • Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
  • If you disagree with changes, you may cancel your subscription

10. Termination

By you: You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We will remove your personal data within 30 days.

By us: We may terminate accounts that violate these terms or for extended non-payment. We will attempt to notify you first except in cases of serious abuse.
