What Lyceum Is

Lyceum is a web application for reading Ancient Greek texts with interactive features like morphological analysis, vocabulary tracking, and spaced repetition. It is operated as a personal project.

What We Collect

We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service:

• Account information: Your email address and Google account ID, received from Google when you sign in via Google OAuth. We do not store your Google password.
• Learning data: Your vocabulary deck, review history, reading progress, and display preferences. This data is stored to provide spaced repetition and progress tracking.
• Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status but never see or store your card number.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data.
• We do not collect browsing behavior beyond what is needed to serve the application.
• We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below.

Third-Party Services

• Google OAuth: Used for authentication. Google receives a standard OAuth request when you sign in. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe: Used for payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Sentry: Used for error tracking and crash reporting. Application errors may include request metadata but not personal learning data. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.
• Plausible Analytics: If enabled, provides privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics. No personal data is collected. See Plausible's Data Policy.

Cookies

Lyceum uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is HTTP-only, secure (over HTTPS), and expires after 7 days. We do not use tracking cookies.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in an encrypted-at-rest database on a server hosted in the United States. Access is restricted to the application operator. Session tokens are generated with cryptographic randomness and transmitted only over HTTPS.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your learning data is retained as long as your account exists. If you would like your account and all associated data deleted, contact us at the email below and we will process the request within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
